Description

Using evidence-based best practices, the Mental Health Ambassadors program aims to provide students with skills to enhance well-being. 

The program focuses on identifying on building on resilience skills, fostering stronger connections within school communities, recognising early warning signs of mental health issues, and provides techniques to assist students in developing self-care plans for optimal wellbeing.

Course modules

Key outcomes

Trained students will learn to:

  • Notice and support young people in need
  • Identify and build on individual resilience skills
  • Strengthen connections and care between students and school communities
  • Connect young people with health providers outside of the school or counsellors within the school community
  • Model and encourage help seeking behaviour
  • Act to help dispel myths and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues
  • Develop healthy self care and support plans
  • Reduce the impact of mental health

Who is this for?

The target audience for this course is:

  • High school students (years 7-10)

Course structure

  • Delivery: face-to-face only, over two consecutive days during school hours (9AM-3PM)
  • Participants: min 8, max 18 per course
  • Cost: available on request
