Volunteer

Our telephone crisis support volunteers are essential in making a difference to the lives of Canberrans who use the Lifeline services.

Each day our trained volunteers take almost 100 calls from people from all walks of life. Despite our best efforts, we lose one Canberran to suicide every week. We believe this is preventable. Becoming a volunteer will save lives and you’ll enrich your own life too.

Become a TCS volunteer

Becoming a Telephone Crisis Support Volunteer

1 GET INFORMED

Attend the information session to get informed about being a TCS Volunteer.

2 APPLY

After attending the information session, apply to become a TCS Volunteer.

3 ENROL

After receiving a successful application, you can enrol in our TCS training.

4 COMMENCE TRAINING

Once payment and enrolmenthas been finalised, you will commence the 3 phases of training.

5 BECOME A TCS VOLUNTEER

After successfully completing the 3 phases of training, start working as a Telephone Crisis Support Volunteer.

Lifeline helped Dennis through some of his darkest moments. After 19 years in the army, his work on the front lines is not over. He is a trained Telephone Crisis Supporter, volunteering on the phones, helping save lives every day.
