With the move of Swan Sonnenschein & Co to George Allen & Unwin Ltd (1914) most of the Swan Sonnenschein records were lost. However, the Sonnenschein letter book still exists [The archives of Swan Sonnenschein & Co., 1879-1911 (microform) edited by Brian Maidment]. These archives have two letters from Swan Sonnenschein to F A Perthes (the German publisher of Heidi) that definitely mention the Heidi book. These letters are dated 7 June 1880 and 2 July 1880. The latter mentions publishing the book (Heidi) in the coming season at 2/6 or 3/6 per volume. Following these letters there appears to be no further correspondence from Sonnenschein to Perthes.
